Welp, this has certainly been a busy year already for me. I haven’t posted much food thus far but I am definitely testing a ton more recipes in my kitchen than last year. And I’ve definitely been playing around with creating more delicious snacks and treats for game days especially Super Bowl.
Ingredients
- Pop it up: The base of it all is 8 cups of plain popped yellow kernel popcorn – we’re talking about the real MVP of the snack world.
- Bacon: What’s better than popcorn? Popcorn with 8 slices of crispy, crunchy bacon crumbled into savory bits of heaven.
- Butter: Half a cup of salted butter for that rich, melty goodness we all can’t resist.
- Sweet Syrupl: A drizzle of ⅓ cup pure maple syrup adds a smooth, sweet twist that’ll have you reaching for handful after handful.
- Salt: Sprinkle in ½ teaspoon of Kosher salt to balance the sweet with the perfect pinch of savory. And hey, if you’re feeling it, toss a bit more on top for that salty kick.
How to Make Bacon Popcorn
- Pop 8 cups of yellow kernel popcorn according to instructions and add to a large bowl. Set aside.
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Add bacon to a baking rack over a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until crispy and golden brown. Save some of those delish bacon drippings. Once bacon is cool, break bacon into small pieces.
- In a medium sized pan, melt butter over medium heat. Allow butter to brown until tiny brown specks appear and a nutty aroma develops. Once butter has browned, turn heat to low and whisk in maple syrup, half of the bacon drippings, half of the bacon bits and salt.
- Pour butter syrup over popcorn and fold over to evenly coat. Add remaining bacon on top of the butter and serve.
How to Store
- Make sure your bacon popcorn is completely cool before you even think about storing it. Warm popcorn can steam up and turn into a soggy situation real quick.
- Scoop your popcorn into an airtight container. This is the VIP lounge for your popcorn—it keeps out all the air that can make it stale.
- Find a cool, dark spot in your kitchen that’s away from any heat sources.
- Bacon in the mix means you don’t want this to hang around too long. Enjoy it within a couple of days for the best taste and texture.

You don’t have to pop the popcorn if you are low on time. You can replace with store bought popped popcorn as well!
