I have been waiting patiently for the 3rd Annual Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap (#FBCookieSwap) for months! Last year, I was a new food blog and missed the boat but this year, I made sure to put a reminder on my calendar so I would NOT miss all the fun! I am all for anything where I get to share my Christmas Chocolate Chip Cookies with bloggers from everywhere and also give back to Cookies for Cancer, a non-profit organization devoted to fighting against pediatric cancer.
I had the hardest time figuring out what type of cookie I should share for the #FBCookieSwap. Should I pull out all the stops and create something super inventive? Or should I go traditional with a classic cookie recipe that brought back the perfect amount of nostalgia?
After my internal battle, I ended up going with the latter. Though I love super exciting cookie combinations, sometimes cookies don’t need to be complicated. Sometimes they just need to be delicious with no extra fluff thrown their way.
These Christmas chip cookies using my favorite Mrs. Field’s recipe are that. I made them earlier this year on the blog, and I seriously can’t get enough of them. I shared them with family and friends for the holidays and ate a few batches myself just for Christmas cheer. Adding holiday colored chips to the batch only made them more festive. These are the perfect classic little black dress; it always comes in handy and is very dependable not to mention lovely.
