Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb bacon
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 lb sausage
  • 8 Grands biscuits
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese separated
  • 2 3/4 oz peppered gravy mix packet makes 2 cups

Instructions

  • Cook bacon, crumble into smaller pieces then set aside. Preheat the oven to 350. Grease a 13×9 casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  • Whisk together eggs and milk then season with salt and pepper and set aside.
  • Brown the sausage in a skillet until cooked through making sure to crumble into pieces then drain and set aside.
  • Make gravy according to packet instructions and set aside.
  • Cut biscuit dough into quarters then add to the bottom of the greased dish.
  • Spread cooked sausage and bacon bits over the top of the biscuit dough.
  • Next layer 1 cup of cheddar cheese over meat. Pour whisked eggs over the cheese and finally pour gravy over the top and finally the remaining cheese on top.
  • Bake for 50 minutes, or until biscuits are cooked through and eggs are set up then serve warm.

Notes

  1. Start with a well-greased baking dish. It'll keep everything from sticking and make it easier to scoop out clean slices.
  2. Cut your biscuit dough evenly. If they’re all the same size, they’ll bake up nice and even without leaving you with doughy spots.
  3. Brown the sausage and bacon in the same skillet. Don’t clean it in between! Those bits at the bottom add flavor. You can even make the gravy in the same pan.
  4. If your gravy ends up too thick, splash in some milk or cream. If it’s too thin, a little flour will fix it up quick.
  5. Keep an eye on the oven, boos. This sausage biscuits and gravy casserole bakes longer than your usual breakfast!
How to Store & Reheat this Biscuits and Gravy Casserole
  • Fridge: Store your biscuits and gravy casserole right in the baking dish, covered tight. It'll keep in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • Freezer: Let it cool all the way down, then move it to a freezer-safe container. You can freeze it for up to 2 months.
  • Reheating: If it's frozen, thaw it in the fridge overnight. For the oven, cover with foil and bake at 350°F until heated through. About 20 minutes. For quick single servings, pop them in the microwave in 20-second bursts until warm.
