A CHARITABLE CONFECTION
So if you have been following along, you know I have been working on my first Grandbaby Cakes branded event A Charitable Confection. A Charitable Confection is a dessert cocktail party and unique bake sale featuring Chicago’s best bakeries and cocktail vendors all to raise funds for an important cause.
PROJECT ORANGE TREE
For our inaugural event, we selected a teen run anti-violence organization called Project Orange Tree, a subset of the Lupe Fiasco Foundation. They have truly inspired me. All of the proceeds raised went towards their new initiative, Project Oasis, in which they will purchase land in urban areas of Chicago and transform that land into gardens in food deserts and zen parks to promote peace in the area.
Since the year before, I, along with my fantastic committee, had been working hard to pull this event together. From getting co-chairs like Pastry superstars and James Beard Award winners like Gale Gand and Mindy Segal and event guru Debi Lilly to securing the most incredible sponsors like Nielsen-Massey Fine Vanillas, Advocate Trinity Hospital , Joia All-Natural Sodas, and my hometown more cupcakes, we pulled out all the stops. This event was truly epic!!
Thank you to all of you for your support in making this event happen!!
