The Heart and Soul of the best Snow Cone recipe

Cuisine Inspiration: Summer Fair Fun

Primary Cooking Method: Freezing & Simmering

Dietary Info: A sweet escape that’s gluten-free but definitely not free of spirit.

Key Flavor: Berry Bliss Meets Boozy Kick Bursting with the pure taste of raspberries and blueberries

Skill Level: Easy

Sweet Highlights:

Perk 1: Chill Factor- These snow cones are your summer cooldown companions, perfect for those scorching afternoons.

Perk 2: Sweet and Spirited- The homemade syrups are a blend of sweetness and vodka

Perk 3: Color Pop- With an option to add a dash of food coloring, your snow cones don’t just taste amazing, they’re a feast for the eyes.

Perk 4: DIY Delight This is hands-on fun; customize your cone, find your flavor, and make it as strong (or as sweet) as your heart desires.

Key Ingredients

  • Chilly Base: Heaps of ice – the frosty canvas for our snow cones

For the Syrups:

  • Sweetness: The sweet start to our syrupy magic.
  • Berries: A cup of fresh raspberries or blueberries here makes a big fruity difference.
  • Vodka (Optional): A splash of Original Smirnoff is optional if you want to keep it kid friendly.
  • Color Pop (Optional): A drop of red or blue food coloring – for that ruby-red look.

How to Make Snow Cones

  • Add ice 1 cup at a time to heavy duty blender and finely crush ice until it becomes snow consistency and pure white. Repeat until all ice is finely crushed then add to a container and place in the freezer.
  • To make the syrups, add water, sugar and raspberries to one medium sized pot over medium high heat and repeat with blueberry ingredients (water, sugar and blueberries) in a separate medium sized pot over medium high heat.
  • Bring both pots to a boil and continue to simmer until they reduce and colors intensify.
  • Strain each mixer into separate bowls.
  • Stir 1/4 cup of vodka if using into each individual bowl.
  • If using, mix in separate food coloring in separate bowls to further enhance colors. (Tip: I do recommend using the blue food coloring for an authentic blue toned syrup. Without it, the blueberry punch syrup will appear more purple instead of blue. Mix some in until a darker navy blue color develops.
  • Add individual syrups to two separate squeeze bottles and refrigerate until completely cool.
  • To serve, scoop snow ice into small cups and squeeze syrup over each cup and enjoy!

How to Store

To keep your snow cone syrups fresh and ready for the party, pour any leftovers into airtight containers and stash them in the fridge. They’ll stay good for up to two weeks. As for the ice, keep it frozen in a sealed bag or container until you’re ready to crush it and get the good times rolling again!

  1. Smirnoff snow cones! The perfect summer treat! I live in SoCal so I make slushies and snowcones all the time as a refresher, especially spiked — I think realhawaiianice.com has the best syrups and machines, and I love adding things like red beans and mochi! But every cocktail and liquor is better snowed, isn’t it? xx

  2. These spiked snow cones look like so much fun! We are definitely making them next year!

  3. Snow cones are the best! Actually wait, your BOOZY snow cones are the best. I must make these this summer. 🙂
