Y’all one of my fave places in Italy is Naples where I had some of the best pizza of my entire life. After that trip, I started working on a dough that would give me that same crisp, light, chewy and slightly charred flavor so I could make my fave Neapolitan pizza anytime. I gotta say this pizza dough is pretty darn perfect. And I use the most basic ingredients to pull it off. Let me teach you how to make pizza dough that’s fantastic and easy!

Recipe Tips
- Use a quality olive oil. It’s the perfect coating for my dough and it also adds extra flavor.
- Utilize the Broiler. An authentic Naples Pizza is cooked in a brick oven which can reach upwards of 800 degrees! The extremely high heat is what makes for a quicker cooking time and that wonderful char. Of course, our ovens aren’t capable of that kind of heat but, we can use the broiler in the last ¼ of cooking to really crisp up the crust.
- Start with Simple Toppings. Try out a pared down pizza sauce fresh mozzarella, olive oil and basil for an authentic margherita experience.
- Use Parchment: This dough can be quite tacky so, I find that sometimes working on floured parchment paper can help prevent super sticky situations. Parchment paper can also be used to transfer your pizza into the oven if you don’t have a peel or are just looking for a simpler baking process.
This pizza is like WOW Jocelyn!! I made this last night. It was thee best pizza everrrrr. So simple to make and the dough was so tender and easy to work with. I just used my hands. No rolling pin. Let dough rest for 2 1/2 hours only and it was crazy good. I used floured parchment when forming dough. Sprinkled cornmeal on dough and placed my pizza pan on dough and flipped it over onto pan. Wa-la! Baked on 500 degrees for approximately 13 minutes then switched over to broil- watching it like a hawk lol. Made a delicious side salad and proceeded to eat most of the pizza in one sitting we did. Had posted on my Snapchat so I got lots of requests for your recipe from my family and friends. Do not shy away from making this people. It’s easy enough for a beginner. I will never even consider buying the dough from the grocery store ever again. That dough is like rubber cement compared to this beauty lol. Thank you Jocelyn for this perfect creation and for making our tastebuds so very happy.
Can I use Fleischmann’s Pizza Crust Yeast for this recipe?
It should work fine if it is a similar yeast product.
This is a good basic pizza dough recipe. I need to bake more pizza now that it’s hard to just get a pizza take out.
I really hope to make it to Naples one day to try this pizza but for now, I can experience a Neapolitan pizza in the comfort of our home with this yummy recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Just reading this and remembering my Dad. He was a a Naval Diplomat. We travelled all over the world. He always said when people asked him where was the best food that Naples had the best food in the world !! This was in the 1950’s and early 1960’s!
Could you please provide baking instructions. Thank you.
Hi Julie, you bake at a super high temperature as high as your oven will go. About 500 degrees for 10-15 minutes but watch carefully.
