How to Store

  • Fridge: You have leftovers? I’m impressed, boo! Let the garlic bread cool completely first. Then wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or foil, or place it in an airtight container. It will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Freezer: You can freeze garlic bread before or after baking. For unbaked bread, spread on the garlic butter, wrap tightly in plastic wrap, and freeze up to 3 months. For baked bread, wrap slices well and freeze up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight before reheating.
  • Reheating: Warm it in a 350°F oven for 10-15 minutes until heated through and crisp again. For a quick fix, wrap a slice in a damp paper towel and microwave for about 20 seconds.

Recipe Tips

  • Grab a crusty loaf from the bakery section. I always use baguettes, but Italian bread, French bread, and ciabatta also get nice and crisp in the oven.
  • Use fresh garlic. Do not, I repeat, do NOT use jarlic. It’s packed with preservatives and lacks that bold, fresh flavor. Grab a bulb and mince it yourself, boos!
  • Mince it fine. Big chunks of garlic can be too much for chewing. Chop it down real fine so it melts right into the butter.
  • Soften the butter. Room temp butter blends everything together smoothly.

Recipe Help

Help! Why is my garlic bread from scratch soggy?

Y’all gotta make sure you bake it long enough so it gets crispy. Check to make sure the bread is super toasty on the sides and golden brown on top before removing from the oven.

Can I make this recipe ahead?

For sure boos! Just assemble the bread with the butter spread, wrap super well and pop in the fridge or freezer. Follow the rest of the baking instructions when you are ready to bake. It will need to bake a bit longer if you are baking from frozen however.
