Air fryers allow you to cook meals with less oil and little clean-up by using hot, well-circulated air to quickly and evenly cook and crisp up foods. Each one of the recipes featured in Gina’s book is simple, versatile, and perfectly crafted to make the most use out of this nifty kitchen gadget.
LOADED FRIES RECIPE INGREDIENTS
There are 4 components that come together to make these fries super super special.
- Here we are using a mix of ground beef and shredded cheddar cheese. However you can swap for ground turkey to lighten this up and use any shredded cheese you really enjoy that melts well.
- Everyone knows how important a special sauce is. Gina creates a classic one here with condiments like mayo, ketchup, mustard along with some special seasonings.
- Medium potatoes are used here, and we are going to toss them with a few seasonings like garlic powder, salt and black pepper before putting them in the air fryer to make them super crispy.
- Like any great burger, you need your garnishes. Here we are using lettuce, tomato, onion and dill pickle. Delish!
HOW TO MAKE LOADED FRIES
- MAKE THE CHEESEBURGERS. First things first, we gotta preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Combine the beef, cheese, mustard, onion powder, and salt, then mix until well-combined. Form the mixture into 2 equal patties and place them in the basket of the air fryer. Cook for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- GET SAUCY! As the burgers cook, mix up all the ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl and set aside. Once out of the air fryer, place the patties on a sheet pan, cover with foil, and transfer to the oven to keep warm.
- PREPARE + COOK THE FRIES. Wash and dry the potatoes. Feel free to either leave them skin on or peel ‘em. Cut the potatoes into ¼ inch thick slices then cut each slice into ¼ inch fries. Toss the potatoes with the olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook the fries in two batches at 380 degrees, tossing each batch halfway through. Don’t forget to spritz the basket with a little oil too!
- DRESS + SERVE. To serve, divide the fries between two plates. Roughly chop up the burger patties into bite sized pieces. Divide the burger between the two plates. Top each plate with a heavy drizzle of sauce and lots of tomato, lettuce, onions, and pickles. Serve while hot and repeat the whole thing over again once you’ve decided on seconds!
TOPPING VARIATIONS FOR BURGER FRIES
Just like a regular ‘ole cheeseburger, toppings for this recipe can vary! Sky is truly the limit. Change up the cheese, add a few dashes of hot sauce, or toss on some crumbled bacon to make your own customized version of this recipe!

TIP: If you’re a vegetarian or vegan, try replacing the ground beef in this recipe with your favorite meat replacement. I used Beyond Beef and had great results! If vegan, omit the cheese or replace with a dairy substitute of your choice.

Cheeseburger Loaded Fries
For the Cheeseburger
- 1/2 lb ground beef 93% lean
- 2 tbsp reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
For the Special Sauce
- 2 tbsp light mayo
- 2 tsp ketchup
- 1/2 tsp yellow mustard
- 1/2 tsp dill pickle juice
- 1/8 tsp onion powder
- 1/8 tsp garlic powder
- 1/8 tsp sweet paprika
For the Fries
- 2 medium potatoes 12 ounces
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- freshly ground black pepper
- olive oil spray
For the Toppings
- 1/4 cup chopped lettuce
- 1 small diced tomato
- 1/4 cup chopped red onion
- 1/4 cup chopped dill pickle
For the Cheeseburger
- In a large bowl, combine the beef, cheddar, mustard, salt and onion powder and mix until well combined. Gently form the meat mixture into 2 equal patties and flatten each one slightly to about a 1/3 inch thickness. Use your finger to press down into the center of each patty to create a dimple, which will prevent too much shrinking.
For the Special Sauce
- In a medium bowl, stir all of the ingredients until smooth.
- Arrange the burgers in the air fryer basket and cook at 400 F to medium doneness, about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through. Place on a sheet pan, cover with foil, and transfer to the oven to keep warm.
For the Fries
- Wash and dry the potatoes. Cut into lengthwise into 1/4-inch thick slices; then cut each slice into 1/4-inch thick fries. (A mandoline is helpful here).
- In a bowl, toss the potatoes with the olive oil. Season with the salt, garlic powder, and black pepper to taste and toss to coat.
- Working in 2 batches, spirtz the air fryer basket with oil. Add half of the potatoes to the basket in an even layer, without overlapping or crowding. Cook at 380 F until the potatoes are golden and crisp, 12 to 14 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- To serve, divide the potatoes between two plates. Chop the burger patties into small bite-size pieces and scatter on top of the fries. Drizzle everything with the special sauce, top with the lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles. Serve immediately.
