Ingredients to Make Pineapple Milkshakes
- Vanilla Ice Cream – Go for good quality vanilla ice cream! It really does make a difference in the taste.
- Pineapple Sherbet – Same for the sherbet, real fruit with non-crappy ingredients so you can actually get a real pineapple taste, not an artificial one!
- Crushed Pineapple – A quarter cup of crushed pineapple coming at ya! Make sure it’s packed tight and drained. We want all the flavor, not a watery mess.
- Milk – Here’s where you play it your way: half a cup for a thick, spoon-up shake, or a full cup if you like it a bit more sippable.
- Ground Cinnamon – Just a pinch, y’all. This is the secret warmth that ties it all together, a little spice to make everything nice. (sorry y’all, I am feeling punny today! ha!)
- Caramel Sauce – Drizzle in a tablespoon of caramel sauce. It’s like that final touch that makes you say, “Oh yeah, that’s what I’m talking about!”
- Optional Garnishes – And don’t forget to jazz it up! Fresh whipped cream, cake crumbles, chopped pineapple, extra caramel, or even a cherry on top.
How to Make Pineapple Milkshakes
- Add the vanilla ice cream, pineapple sherbet, crushed pineapple, milk, ground cinnamon, and caramel sauce to the steel mixing cup of your drink mixer.
- Blend it until smooth. Add more milk if you prefer milkshakes a bit thinner and mix again.
- Pour the milkshake into two glasses.
- Garnish your pineapple shake with the toppings of your liking.
Tips for Making the Best Pineapple Milkshake
- Pick the Right Ice Cream. Don’t skimp on the quality of the ice cream! Grab a cup of the richest, creamiest vanilla ice cream you can find. This is the backbone of your milkshake, so go for broke—something with real vanilla. Don’t play with the fake artificial stuff.
- Glass Game Strong. Get those glasses cold! Toss them in the freezer for a bit before you pour. This hack keeps your shake thick and frosty longer.
- Blend Like a Pro. Now, let’s talk blending—start slow then kick it up to high. Gradually increasing the speed avoids over-beating, which keeps everything thick and lush.
- Milk It Just Right. Thick or thin, it’s all about how you like it. Adjust the milk to get your perfect shake: less milk for thick, spoon-ready goodness, or more for a lighter, drinkable treat. Begin with the minimum recommendation and tweak from there.
Popular Substitutions & Additions
- Add Other Fruit: Bananas, berries, papaya, and mango all go great with the flavors of pineapple.
- Dairy-Free: Swap the vanilla ice cream for your fave dairy-free brand, replace the sherbet with pineapple sorbet, dairy-free caramel sauce, and use coconut milk or another non-dairy milk in the shake.
- Fresh Pineapple: Replace the crushed pineapple with fresh instead. Choose a very ripe pineapple for maximum sweetness.
What to Serve with A Pineapple Shake
- Load on the Toppings: Everything from freshly made homemade whipped cream, a generous drizzle of caramel sauce, grilled pineapple, and anything else you love!
- Pile on the Pineapple: Enjoy it with other pineapple favorites such as this pineapple rum cake, pineapple whip, or pineapple cupcakes.
- Cookie Garnish: Add a from-scratch sugar cookie or chocolate sugar cookie. Not only does it work as a garnish but it’s also delicious dipped in the shake and eaten.
- Juicy Burgers: Shakes and burgers are a match made in heaven. Sip on one with this jerk salmon burger and loaded fries or your favorite burger combination.
Frequently Asked Questions
For sure, you might find it difficult to use a regular blender as it’s pretty thick, but a food processor works well to blend up the creamy ice cream along with the rest of the ingredients. If all you have is a regular blender, you will likely need to add more milk to help it blend up.
If after mixing you find your milkshake isn’t thick enough, you can add some additional ice cream or sherbet to thicken it. Add a couple of tablespoons at a time and blend it together. Keep repeating until it reaches the desired consistency.
If you’ve ever wanted to drink a pineapple upside down cake, this pineapple milkshake makes that wish come true!

Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 cup vanilla ice cream
- ½ cup pineapple sherbet
- ¼ cup crushed pineapple
- ½-1 cup milk ½ cup if you prefer thick shakes and 1 cup if you like them thinner
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon caramel sauce
- Optional: Garnish with fresh whipped cream, cake crumbles, chopped pineapple, caramel sauce and/or cherries
Instructions
- Add vanilla ice cream, pineapple sherbet, crushed pineapple, milk, ground cinnamon and caramel sauce into the steel mixing cup of your drink mixer and process until smooth and blended to your preference. Add more milk if you prefer milkshakes a bit thinner.
- Pour milkshake into two glasses and garnish with toppings of your liking.
Notes
- Use a Drink Mixer. Or if you don’t have one a high-speed blender for a creamier shake texture.
- Adjust Your Milk! Make it how you love! If you love a thick and creamy milkshake, use a bit less milk but if you want it more sippable then add more milk. It’s easy enough to adjust it as you go along.
- Enjoy Immediately: It melts quickly so serve and enjoy right away.
- Straw and Spoon: Serve it up with both in order to sip and scoop as desired! A spoon comes in handy to enjoy the cake and pineapple tidbits in the topping along with the creamy cold pineapple shake in each bite.
