I’m obsessed with strawberries especially when used in desserts! I simply never get tired of it!
I used my love for all things strawberry to create this strawberry tiramisu that’s inspired by the light and creamy flavors of strawberry shortcake.
This strawberry shortcake dessert combines the traditional sweet cheese layer in tiramisu with a light and fluffy whipped cream layer found in shortcakes. Add in some strawberries and it’s the perfect summer dessert.
It is so easy and it is such a lovely change from the traditional strawberry shortcake.
Why You Will Love Strawberry Tiramisu
- An easy dessert recipe that’s perfect for the summer!
- Perfect for making for a crowd so you can carry it along to potlucks and summer picnics.
- Light and fresh tasting! A great dessert when you’re craving a sweet but don’t want something heavy and overly sweet.
- Great way to use fresh strawberries at the height of summer!
- No-bake strawberry shortcake dessert! This dish takes just 25 minutes of active time to make!
- Similar to my Banana Pudding Tiramisu, this is a fun twist and update on a class recipe.
Ingredients
Strawberry tiramisu without alcohol is made with simple ingredients you can easily pick up at the grocery store.
- Strawberries: Use fresh ripe berries for the best flavor.
- Sugar: Granulated sugar melts with the strawberries making them juicy and sweet while powdered beats into the cream cheese to sweeten it and keep it ultra creamy and smooth!
- Lemon juice: Balances out the sweetness of the strawberries and sugar.
- Cream cheese: Makes the tangy, creamy base in this strawberry tiramisu recipe in place of the traditional mascarpone in Italian tiramisu. I find it works best and is a bit more economical in this dessert.
- Strawberry preserves: Melted and mixed into the cream cheese to give it a pink hue and some strawberry flavor.
- Whipped cream: Use homemade whipped cream for the best flavor.
- Vanilla: Adds warming flavors to the whipped cream.
- Ladyfingers: Long, thin biscuits commonly used to make trifles and tiramisu.
- Orange juice: Drizzled over the ladyfingers to soften and sweeten them up.
How to Make Strawberry Tiramisu
Are you ready to get cooking? Here are the highlights of the steps that go into making this fruit tiramisu.
- Place the strawberries in a bowl and add the granulated sugar and lemon juice. Toss to coat the berries and set aside to allow syrup to form in the strawberries.
- Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and melted strawberry preserves with an electric mixer until smooth. In a separate bowl whisk together the whipped cream and vanilla.
PRO TIP: For a more intense pink color add some red food coloring!
- Drizzle the orange juice over the ladyfingers.
- Spread half the pink filling in the bottom of a square baking dish.
- Add a layer of half of the macerated strawberries.
- Add half of the whipped cream and vanilla mixture on top of the strawberries.
- Repeat the layers again using the rest of the ingredients.
- Refrigerate the strawberry dessert overnight or for at least 6 hours
PRO TIP: If you need to speed things up, you can also freeze the strawberry dessert for one hour to firm up the berries.
Expert Tips
Start with softened cream cheese. This ensures it will blend out perfectly creamy.
This dish is best with fresh, juicy red strawberries. Strawberries are usually at the height of their season in the summer.
Be sure you plan ahead a bit. The tiramisu must sit in the fridge for at least six hours but overnight is even better.
FAQs
Ladyfingers are a type of lightly sweet biscuit that is commonly used to make tiramisu. They come in a firm, crunchy form and also a softer texture similar to sponge cake. I find the harder ones make a firmer dessert but you use either version.
If you canโt find the ladyfingers you could also use cubes of pound cake or even angel food cake. Just note that it does change the overall texture and flavor of the dish.

This is such a perfect summer treat! I love the fruity version of this tiramisu especially now that strawberries are in season. Thanks for the recipe!
I am wondering what kind of whipped topping to use. Is it the kind that comes in a can or the frozen cool whip or do you have to whip it yourself? Also can you use low or no fat whipped cream?
Thanks
Cool whip is totally fine for this or if you want, you can make it yourself. It is a very adaptable recipe.
